Steve is a registered U.S. patent attorney and member of the Maryland bar. He is primarily engaged in patent preparation in the electrical, software, and mechanical arts.

A few of Steve’s representative technologies include application programming interfaces (APIs), biometrics, computer graphics, cyber/data security, digital logic, electronic instrumentation, electronic circuits (digital and analog), holographics, factory automation, fiber optics, integrated circuits, and mechanical structures.  Steve also has experience with medical devices (including imaging and diagnostics), microprocessor architectures, mobile technologies, printers, networking, optical sensing, RFID and barcode scanners/technology, semiconductors, signal processing, software, spectrum analysis, telecommunications, and voice recognition technologies.

Steve’s foundations for drafting and prosecuting high technology patents include undergraduate studies as a  college scholar (independent study) at Cornell University with a strong emphasis on physics and applied mathematics.  Steve’s post-undergraduate studies include digital and analog electronics, applied math, and computer programming.  He has ten-plus years in technical writing and scripting training videos, documenting the inner workings of telecommunications systems, disk storage systems, WiFi technologies, locationing methods and hardware, network design and monitoring systems, and low-level (chip and circuit level) digital and analog electronics.  Steve also had nearly four years as a patent agent at DC based IP boutique  Sterne Kessler Goldstein & Fox before branching out as independent practitioner.

Steve has drafted and prosecuted patents and/or written technical documentation for major corporations, smaller companies, and start-ups. Steve is also an inventor in the smart-items space with issued U.S. patent numbers 9,224,096 and U.S. # 9,786,145, and issued European patent EP 2,801,049 B1, with other patent applications currently pending.
